Back to Lotus Notes/Domino Course Catalog

Course name :   Developing Composite Applications for IBM Lotus Notes 8 Brand: Lotus
Code: D8550 Target Audience: Application Developers Format(s): Classroom Days: 1 day
Introduction:

As an experienced IBM® Lotus® Domino® 8 application developer, you have created and enhanced Lotus Domino applications. One of the main new features of IBM® Lotus Notes® 8 is its support for composite applications. A key element of IBM's service oriented architecture (SOA), composite applications enable companies to develop components in different environments and combine them into robust applications to meet users' needs. Using IBM® Lotus® Domino Designer®, developers can extend Lotus Notes applications to be NSF components in composite applications.

Objectives : This course builds on your knowledge of and experience with Lotus Domino application development to enable you to use Lotus Domino Designer 8 to create NSF components and to build composite applications for Lotus Notes 8. In this course, you will design and develop an NSF component, assemble composite applications consisting of NSF components, and assemble composite applications consisting of NSF components and Eclipse™-based components.
Topics :

Lesson 1: Introducing Composite Applications

Topic 1A: Examining the Composite Application Architecture

Topic 1B: Identifying Composite Application Development Tools

Topic 1C: Overview of Creating Composite Applications

Lesson 2: Creating a Composite Application from NSF Components

Topic 2A: Designing NSF Components

Topic 2B: Creating NSF Components

Topic 2C: Creating Composite Applications from NSF Components

Topic 2D: Testing and Deploying a Composite Application

Lesson 3: Creating Composite Applications with Non-IBM® Lotus Notes® Components

Topic 3A: Incorporating an Eclipse™ Component

Topic 3B: Hosting Composite Applications with Non-IBM® Lotus Notes® Components

Topic 3C: Extending the IBM® Lotus Notes® Client

Audience :   This course is designed for experienced Lotus Domino application developers who need to create NSF components and assemble NSF and non-Lotus Notes components into composite applications for the Lotus Domino and Lotus Notes environments.
Prerequisites :

The course assumes that the student has prior experience developing Lotus Domino 8 applications and is now ready to build composite applications using Lotus Domino Designer and pre-built IBM® Lotus® Expeditor components. The prerequisites for this course include completion of the following Lotus Domino 8 paths or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience:

Application developers who are new to Lotus Domino 8 and have completed the following courses:

·        Fundamentals of IBM® Lotus® Domino® 8 Application Development (D8510)

·        Developing IBM® Lotus® Domino® 8 Applications: Intermediate Skills (D8530)

·        Developers who upgraded to Lotus Domino 8 from a previous release and have completed the following course:

Exploring the New Features in IBM® Lotus® Domino Designer® 8 (D8420)
