Introduction:  

This instructor-led, two-day class is for application developers with little or no IBM® WebSphere® Portlet Factory or IBM Workplace Dashboard Framework experience, who will be developing dashboard applications for IBM WebSphere Portal, IBM Workplace Collaboration Services and IBM Workplace Services Express. Students are introduced to the Workplace Dashboard

Framework as an extensible tool to rapidly create, test, and deploy composite applications that feature a dashboard-style user interface.

Objectives : After completing this course, students should be able to:

 

  • Describe the relationship of WebSphere Portlet Factory and Workplace Dashboard Framework
  • Use the WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer development environment
  • Identify and define the roles of the major objects of WebSphere Portlet
  • Factory and Workplace Dashboard Frameworks, including WebApps, models, builders and, profiles
  • Describe the architecture of WebSphere Portlet Factory and Workplace
  • Dashboard Frameworks, including model regeneration.
  • Describe the role of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) in designing and building models
  • Use Rich Data Definition to manage data formatting in a model
  • Provide localized resources in a model
  • Build models that use data from relational databases, Web services, and Domino using an SOA framework
  • Builds models that use Dashboard presentation builders such as Summary and Drilldown and Record List and Detail
  • Use profiling based on Portal Groups and individual user preferences
  • Create complex configuration pages using the Portlet Customizer and Table Customizer builders
  • Built portlet models that communicate with portal event messages
  • Create and manage alerts and build models that use alerts

  • Basic understanding of J2EE architecture
